Mehr Chancen fur unsere jugend (2002)
This project was designed for my artistic KulturKontakt residence in Vienna in 2002. Being aware that my selection of this residency was partially due to the institutional initiatives I had developed in Iaşi at the time (the Vector Association, the Periferic Biennial), I thought of an art project that would talk about the idea of artistic community and collective creativity.
Drawing on a slogan used by the then-Prime Minister of Austria, More chances for our youth, I used my artistic production budget in order to invite to Vienna my colleagues from the Vector Association. Together we visited museums and art locations and we met with artists and curators. All the expenses were covered using my artistic residence budget.
At the end of my residence I installed in the Kulturkontakt Gastatelier gallery a ping-pong table, inviting the visitors to use it (in Iaşi, my colleagues and I would often relax by playing ping-pong).
Later on, the ping-pong table was installed in various exhibition contexts.
